HAROLD E TATELY

I had enlisted in the US Army Signal Corps Reserve in January, 1943, in Boston, in a program training men to become radio repairmen. Along with Henry Stowers, with whom I served in the 3104th and later discharged together, we were called to active duty on June 18, 1943.

Following our return to the States, processing at Camp Miles Standish, and forty-five days' leave, I reported back to Fort Devens and was shipped to Camp Crowder, MO, to await final discharge from the Army on December 8, 1945.

After discharge, I went to Boston University on the GI Bill, graduating in 1949. In 1952 I received an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. My wife Dorsi and I were married in 1950 and now have four great sons. Chuck lives in Los Angeles, Steve lives in Phoenix, and Dave lives here on the Cape, with Peter in Holden, MA. We also have one lovely daughter-in-law and three granddaughters.

After comleting my undergraduate work at Boston University, I worked for RCA and then for Massachusetts Bonding Insurance Company before going to work for General Electric in Cincinnati, OH, in 1952. I remained with GE and later transfers took us to Pittsfield, MA, Schenectady, NY, and Utica, NY.

Most of my work with GE was in marketing and business planning. I ultimately became Vice-President of Marketing for a GE spin-off venture business and served in that capacity for eight years.

Following retirement from GE in 1986, I enjoyed eight years in the real estate business in Schenectady, NY before my final retirement and move back to Cape Cod where I am active in Rotary, golf, tennis, gardening, clamming, investment club, computers, and just enjoying life being on Cape Cod.
